Switch 2 owners finally have their Witcher 3 fix. CD Projekt Red says patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is rolling out on Nintendo Switch 2 now, and it goes straight at the biggest complaint about the port: the image.
A clearer picture on Switch 2
The Switch 2-specific changes start with “adjustments to image sharpening and resolution to improve visual clarity and fidelity.” Players have said the Remastered edition looked soft on Switch 2, especially in handheld mode, and Eurogamer notes those reports are what this change is meant to address. The patch also fixes a rare crash when moving between regions, optimizes cache handling for Cross-Platform Mod Support, fixes HD Rumble only being felt in the left Joy-Con 2 while climbing ladders, and stops map pins from landing on the black bars around the map.
CD Projekt Red says the update will be available in most regions today. The Japanese version will follow once it passes certification.
Everything else in 5.01
Switch 2 also picks up the broader 5.01 changes that already reached other platforms. On the visual side, there are improvements to Bloom, tone mapping, character lighting, ray tracing and path tracing, plus new Bloom, Light Shafts and Depth of Field options in the graphics menu. The lighting work matters because the Remastered edition’s brighter look has been one of its most argued-about changes since the late-September launch. There are also performance optimizations and a fix for visual artifacts from Dynamic Resolution Scaling.
Gameplay fixes include a stamina bug that fully drained Geralt’s bar when sprinting and dodging at the same time, delayed dodge responses, boats that could start moving on their own and ignore terrain, and Automatically Apply Blade Oils only working if you turned it on in the current session. The Exploding Shield skill now reflects damage, and the Synergy skill shows its correct bonus.
A few housekeeping notes: you will see the policy consent screen again because of a backend issue, some My Rewards and Twitch or Bilibili Drops items may be duplicated after a chest fix, and Ukrainian text is now available in all regions. CD Projekt Red also says it fixed an issue that could affect save files and added measures for saves that were already hit.
This is the Switch 2 follow-up CD Projekt Red promised when it pushed hotfix 5.01b to PS5 last week and said Switch 2 was next.
