Witcher 3 Remastered Hotfix 5.01b Hits PS5; Switch 2 Next

PlayStation

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered has another fix on PlayStation. CD Projekt Red released Hotfix 5.01b for PS5 and PS5 Pro on October 13, and the studio says the update “introduces various stability improvements to help ensure a more reliable experience.”

That line is the whole patch note. Push Square reports the download is about 500MB, and the hotfix targets the crashes some PlayStation players have reported since the remaster launched. It follows Patch 5.01, which rolled out on PS5 last week with a broader set of gameplay, interface and lighting changes.

Switch 2 owners are still waiting

Switch 2 players got a short update too. CD Projekt Red said it is “working on getting the Switch 2 patch to all users as soon as possible,” but did not give a date. According to Eurogamer, that patch is meant to improve image clarity and sharpness in the Switch 2 version.

The Remastered update arrived on September 29 as a free upgrade for existing owners across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2. It reworks lighting, textures and animation in the 2015 RPG, and it brought mod support to consoles for the first time. The rollout has been bumpy, with players reporting an overly bright default look, stability problems and uneven performance in the first weeks.

A steady stream of fixes

CD Projekt Red has moved quickly with patches, and RCG has been following along, including when the studio said its next patch would target PS5 performance. Hotfix 5.01b continues that work on the PlayStation side while the Switch 2 team finishes its own update.

If you are playing on PS5 or PS5 Pro, the hotfix should download automatically. Switch 2 players will want to keep an eye on CD Projekt Red’s official channels, where the studio has been announcing each update as it goes live.
