Disney Dreamlight Valley is heading under the sea. Gameloft used its annual Showcase on October 21 to date The Keepsake Sea, the game’s next paid expansion, for Wednesday, November 18. The official recap lays out a mermaid-and-pirate adventure with new islands, a new way to explore and five new villagers.
Three islands and a lot of water
The story starts at Dazzle Beach, where players find a statue carrying a message from a lost friend. Reaching them means waking four Guardians and crossing a sea dotted with three new island biomes. Shipwreck Shores is a colorful pirate bay where you meet Milo Thatch from Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Candy Cove is a frosty dessert world home to Megara from Hercules and Captain Hook from Peter Pan. The Kingdom of Oublié, built from coral and seashells, is where Wendy from Peter Pan is waiting.
Each biome has its own underwater area. Players unlock a customizable merfolk form to swim, gather and decorate below the waves, and can even swim across surface water in the rest of the Valley. Dory from Finding Nemo joins as the first Adventure Companion, a new type of companion that helps find items underwater. Above the waves, an Enchanted Pirate Ship lets you salvage items, customize your sail and flag, bring two villagers along as crew, and decorate a Captain’s Cabin with crafting, cooking and storage.
More on the way
The Deluxe Edition adds Flounder and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid as Adventure Companions, and Arcade Edition owners on Apple Arcade get the expansion at no extra cost. Anyone who plays between November 18 and December 2 earns an exclusive fin. A new Seafaring Star Path is live now through December 2, and the free ‘Ohana Holidays update brings Lilo to the Valley on December 9. As Nintendo Everything notes, older editions are discounted until they leave stores on November 18.
Ships seem to be the theme of the season, with Crimson Desert’s upcoming expansion also adding ships and romance. For Dreamlight Valley players, the Keepsake Sea gives the game its biggest shake-up in a while.
