Stephanie Williams is putting Donna Troy in charge of a very cold team. DC’s January solicits revealed Justice League: Arctic Attack Special #1, a one-shot written by Williams with art by Dexter Soy, Comics Beat reports. It goes on sale Jan. 27, 2027.
The story starts with the Wonder Girls, Donna Troy, Cassie Sandsmark and Yara Flor, on a covert mission to recover stolen purple ray technology. When that mission goes sideways, Donna has to put together an unconventional squad of “cool-headed heroes and villains” to stop a threat from DC’s past: the original Killer Frost, back from the dead, who is out to plunge humanity into “a frosty grave.”
Williams has been teasing the project for months after hinting on social media that she had a chance to write Donna, the original Wonder Girl. “Y’all aren’t ready for the chilly goodness that Dexter Soy and I have cooked up for the Justice League: Arctic Attack Special!” she said. “Taurin Clarke went crazy on the Donna Troy featured cover, and Dexter Soy is giving you a taste of the interior goodness with this ice-cold cover featuring Donna and her subzero team.”
Soy draws the main cover, with variants by Taurin Clarke, Daniele Di Nicuolo and Inhyuk Lee. The special runs 48 pages for $4.99, with a $5.99 card stock variant.
Williams is a two-time Eisner nominee whose recent work includes Vixen and a return to Wonder Woman. Her new special arrives during a big stretch for the Wonder family, as DC kicks off its Year of Wonder with Louise Simonson on Wonder Woman #41 in January as well.
Donna Troy fans have waited a while for a showcase like this, and a team built around ice powers gives Williams a fun, offbeat mix of characters to play with. Look for Justice League: Arctic Attack Special #1 in comic shops on Jan. 27.
