BOOM! Studios’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers relaunch is getting its first collection. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once a Ranger Vol. 1 is scheduled for March 16, 2027, according to Penguin Random House, collecting the opening arc of the series that brought the original team back together.

Written by Marguerite Bennett with art by Andrew Lee Griffith and Phillip Sevy, the series picks up a decade after the original Rangers went their separate ways, CBR reports. The 112-page paperback collects the series’ first arc.

“It’s been ten years since the original Mighty Morphin team, Jason, Zack, Trini, Kimberly, and Billy, went their separate ways to pursue different dreams,” the series solicitation reads. “Jason is a martial arts teacher. Zack is a public defender. Trini is a diplomat. Kimberly became a world-renowned gymnast. And Billy… Billy stayed behind to support new generations of Power Rangers.”

The threat that brings them back is familiar with a twist: Rita Rabiosa, a multiversal variant of Rita Repulsa, who is set on vengeance. When Billy calls the team back together, they have to learn to work with each other again while dealing with the real-life problems of being young adults.

One original Ranger is notably missing from that list. Tommy Oliver did not answer the team’s call, and spent the first issues of the series in a strange, seemingly prehistoric jungle before showing up at the end of issue #4. Issue #5 sets up a rough reunion between Tommy and Zack.

The ongoing series launched in July and has been well received by readers and critics, giving Power Rangers fans a new story while the franchise is absent from TV and film.

The collection is one of the first BOOM! books dated as the publisher moves into its new home at Penguin Random House, where BOOM! becomes a Random House Worlds imprint in 2027.
