BOOM! Studios Becomes a Random House Worlds Imprint in 2027

BOOM! Studios is taking the next step into Penguin Random House. At New York Comic Con’s Retailer Day on Wednesday, October 7, the publisher announced that “starting with January 2027 releases, all Boom Studios titles will be solicited as a new imprint of the division Random House Worlds,” as Bleeding Cool reports.

The switch starts sooner for single issues. BOOM! said the change “will go into effect for single-issue comics beginning with the November 2026 catalogue.” Retailers ordering through PRH Self-Service will also start seeing BOOM! titles listed under the Penguin Random House publisher section rather than on their own.

For readers, the books themselves aren’t changing. BOOM! is still the home of Something Is Killing the Children, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and a long list of creator-owned series. What changes is where BOOM! sits in the company. Random House Worlds is the Penguin Random House division known for science fiction, fantasy, and licensed fiction. Folding BOOM! in as an imprint makes it part of that group instead of a separate publisher under the PRH umbrella.

It’s the latest step in a gradual integration that began when Penguin Random House bought BOOM! Studios. Penguin Random House already handles BOOM!’s distribution to comic shops, so the change is mostly about how titles are branded and solicited to stores.

Retailer Day is the professional-only day before New York Comic Con opens to the public, and publishers use it for business news aimed at comic shops. This year’s NYCC runs through Sunday, October 11, at the Javits Center in Manhattan.

BOOM!’s biggest series just hit a milestone of its own, as RCG reported this week: Something Is Killing the Children hits #50, with a card game next. Expect January 2027 solicitations, released later this fall, to be the first to carry the new Random House Worlds imprint label.
