HoYoverse’s cozy life sim Petit Planet is headed to Nintendo hardware. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is coming in 2027, the Genshin Impact maker announced during its pre-launch broadcast, as reported by Gematsu.
The Switch 2 version will follow the game’s first launch on Dec. 4, 2026, when Petit Planet arrives free-to-play on PC through the Epic Games Store and HoYoverse’s own launcher, plus iOS and Android. There is no exact date for the Switch 2 release yet, and no PlayStation 5 version has been announced.
Petit Planet puts players in the role of Planet Tenders, who travel the Starsea on the back of Oumuamua, a Starsea Spirit said to hear the wishes in people’s hearts. Each player plants a Luca Seed on their own small planet, and it grows into a Luca Arbor that shapes the world’s landscape, seasons and ecosystem over time. Planet Coordinator Mobai and Starsea Racer Elsasani are the first neighbors to arrive, with more moving in as the planet grows.
HoYoverse is leaning on rewards to build launch momentum. More than 1,000 clothing and furniture items can be earned for free through normal play, a pre-registration lucky draw is running on the official site, and a “Besties, Made to Match!” event gives an exclusive outfit to players who pre-register with two friends. A “Launch a Planet” event starting Nov. 1 invites players to design their own planets ahead of release.
The announcement stands out because HoYoverse’s biggest hits, Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, have never reached a Nintendo console. A Switch version of Genshin Impact was announced years ago but never released. A cozy, low-pressure life sim is a natural fit for Nintendo’s audience.
It has been an eventful stretch for the publisher, which also recently won a court case in which Honkai: Star Rail leakers were ordered to pay about $150,000 in damages. Petit Planet launches Dec. 4 on PC, iOS and Android, with Switch 2 to follow in 2027.
