Remedy’s third quarter looked like a different company. Revenue jumped 226% to €39.6 million after the Sept. 24 launch of Control Resonant, and the studio swung to a €0.6 million operating profit from a €16.4 million loss a year earlier, GamesIndustry.biz reports from Remedy’s results.
The sequel has also cleared a sales milestone that matters more than the quarterly printout. Since its physical release on Oct. 15 — after the financial review period closed — Control Resonant has sold more than one million units, making it Remedy’s fastest-selling game to date. CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called the launch “a defining milestone for the company,” according to Wccftech, and framed Resonant as the studio’s first self-published title of this scale.
Most of that Q3 revenue came from game sales and royalties, which rose to €35 million from €6 million. Development fees from the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake and a final Resonant fee accrual under the Annapurna deal added another €4.3 million. Because Remedy now publishes itself, it also carries royalty expenses and platform fees directly, including Annapurna’s share of Resonant, which the company says will ease once initial investments are recouped.
The player mix is encouraging for a franchise that spent years as a cult favorite. Nearly half of Resonant’s PC and console sales came from the United States. On PC, Chinese-speaking regions and the UK ranked next; on console, the UK, Canada and Brazil followed. Internal data showed nearly half of Resonant players were new to Control, which Remedy called a key goal. Outstanding wishlists still sit at about 2.4 million.
Gaudechon said the priority now is getting Resonant into more hands, with “excellent player reviews, penetration in all our target markets and a substantial outstanding wishlist base” as the foundation. Sales over the rest of 2026 will define the full year, he added, but the sequel has “established Control as a true franchise.”
The Finnish studio’s timing lines up with a wider run of big action RPG openings, including S-GAME’s Phantom Blade Zero crossing 4 million copies in 72 hours. Control Resonant is available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
