Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 Pre-Load Starts November 10, Needs Up to 212GB

PlayStationRockstar Confirms GTA 6 Pre-Load Starts November 10, Needs Up to 212GB

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI digital pre-loading begins Tuesday, November 10, and the pre-load file will need up to 212GB of storage depending on your device. The game still launches November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That is two days earlier than the November 12 pre-load date some pre-order confirmations showed. Rockstar says digital pre-loading on PlayStation 5 starts at midnight local time in each time zone, while Xbox Series X|S pre-loading begins globally at 12 a.m. GMT on November 10. For players in Central time, that Xbox start lands at 6 p.m. CT on Monday, November 9.

How big is GTA 6?

Rockstar puts the pre-load at up to 212GB, and the PlayStation Blog tells PS5 owners to clear a minimum of 212GB before the download opens. That lines up closely with the roughly 210GB PS5 figure RCG reported last week from PlayStation Game Size tracking, which had not been confirmed by Rockstar at the time. Final install sizes can differ from pre-load sizes, and launch patches could add more.

What about physical copies?

Boxed copies of GTA 6 do not include a disc. Sony’s support page says the code-in-box version contains only a download code, and Rockstar says those code-in-box editions should be available from retailers starting November 12. Anyone buying a box will be downloading the full game either way.

PS5 owners can turn on auto-download from the pre-order in their Game Library and leave the console in rest mode with Stay Connected to the Internet enabled so the pre-load starts on its own. Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19 for $79.99.
