Final Fantasy VII Revelation still launches April 8, 2027. That date has not changed. Square Enix North America’s English store news page confirms simultaneous release on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store, with Xbox on PC also called out in Square Enix press language. This post is a standalone product-detail story about physical install requirements — not a second State of Play roundup and not a patch of the live SoP date lock.
For related live coverage of the April 8 multiplat lock from State of Play, see State of Play Locks FF7 Revelation for April 8.
Per Square Enix NA’s April 8 launch note, physical pre-orders are available for PlayStation 5 (one disc), Xbox Series X (one disc), and Nintendo Switch 2 (Game-Key Card). Those are the only published physical media counts for Revelation — one disc or one Game-Key Card. Do not invent additional Revelation discs.
Every physical format still needs a download. Square Enix’s footnotes say PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S require an internet connection to download additional game data in order to play the physical version. Nintendo Switch 2’s physical edition is a Game-Key Card: game data must be downloaded on first launch, and an internet connection plus at least 130 GB of free storage are required for that download. The only published storage size in Square Enix’s note is Switch 2’s ≥130 GB requirement — this post does not invent PlayStation 5 or Xbox download sizes.
For comparison to prior Remake-series physical releases, keep the formats straight: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth shipped on two discs on PlayStation 5; the original Final Fantasy VII Remake shipped on two discs on PlayStation 4; Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade shipped on one disc on PlayStation 5. If citing coverage that Remake and Rebirth each needed two discs, frame that as PS4 Remake plus PS5 Rebirth — not as Intergrade.
What this story is not claiming: any change to the April 8, 2027 date; invented PS5 or Xbox gigabyte sizes; that the physical disc is unlock-only with zero game data on the media; invented Revelation disc counts beyond Square Enix’s one-disc / one-card language; that Revelation would have needed two discs if fully on-disc; or applying the 130 GB Switch 2 figure to PlayStation 5 or Xbox.
