PlayStation Blog and Hello Games have launched No Man’s Sky: Cosmos — Update 7.0 — a free download for existing players as of Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The studio frames it as the biggest overhaul to space itself in the game’s 10th anniversary window.
Cosmos pushes players to treat systems as living places rather than empty voids. Warping in now leads to a solar/star system map that reveals new points of interest, missions, and anomalies. Huge space hulks can be stripped with a physics gravity gun that pulls metal into a ship tractor beam — over-salvage can trigger a meltdown. New space outposts and bio-wreck facilities add trade, maps, and hazard cleanup loops.
Asteroid belts hold crystal resources, with some bodies large enough for star bases; free-floating orbital bases can sit anywhere in space. The long-requested beat finally lands: players can buy and own a system space station, decorate it inside and out, and use it as a clubhouse. Stations can seed Alliances that network multiple holdings and climb new leaderboards for size, wealth, or prominence. Players can also attempt a perilous run to the center of their own star system.
Alongside the update, Hello Games is running the anniversary expedition Our Journey Continues, with milestones mapped to the 40-plus major updates since 2016 — a museum-style tour with developer logs. On platforms, the PS Blog post focuses on PS5 availability today; Hello Games’ own Cosmost post lists the free drop across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 1, Switch 2, Mac, PSVR 1&2, PC VR, and Xbox Game Pass. We are not inventing a price for new buyers or adding platforms beyond those first-party lists.
