PlayStation Blog published a Thursday deep dive from Remedy Entertainment Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov on Control Resonant‘s expanded Assist Mode — a suite of individual combat options rather than a traditional difficulty ladder. With digital launch still set for September 24, 2026, the post focuses on how players can reshape Dylan’s Aberrant melee combat without picking a single overall difficulty tier.
Mohov walks through independent levers: enemy aggression, perfect-dodge window, enemy projectile speed, incoming damage, outgoing damage, outgoing falter (posture break speed), power recovery speed, and enhanced melee magnetizing. Exploration-focused players can also enable immortality, one-hit kills, and one-hit falters. The design intent is explicit: change the parts of combat that are not working for you instead of forcing an all-or-nothing difficulty preset. Presets exist as starting points, then individual settings can be fine-tuned.
Availability timing matters. Assist Mode is not parked behind a pre-game gate; players can enable or disable it anytime mid-play after feeling the intended combat rhythm. Trophy and achievement progress is not gated behind Assist Mode. Versus the original Control, Assist Mode is now bi-directional: sliders can harden the experience (higher aggression, tighter dodge windows, more incoming damage) as well as ease it. That is a deliberate change from the first game’s ease-only assist framing.
Release clocks are unchanged in this filing. Digital remains September 24, 2026 on PS5 per today’s PS Blog. Physical October 15, 2026 still comes from prior Remedy calendar messaging — today’s Assist Mode feature does not re-source or reconfirm that physical date, so we keep Oct 15 as prior-locked calendar context only. We are not inventing Xbox exclusivity for Assist Mode or claiming a single master difficulty slider.
For another live RCG note that already named Control Resonant in a wider Steam metadata wave, see Steam API exposes 50+ unreleased game achievements — adjacent only; this Assist Mode piece is the first-party combat-customization beat ahead of Sep 24.
What we are not saying: no single-slider difficulty claim, no trophy gate, no ease-only framing, no claim that today’s Assist post is the source for Oct 15 physical, and no invented platform exclusivity for Assist Mode.
