Ace Combat 8 Deluxe Early Access Is Live Now

PlayStation

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe says Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve Early Access is available now for players who digitally pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The first mainline Ace Combat in seven years still launches worldwide on Friday, October 2, 2026, per the publisher’s Sep. 29 Europe news post.

Bandai Namco frames the game as an Unreal Engine 5 flight shooter powered with Bandai Namco Aces technology, with cross-play multiplayer, real-world fighter jets in the series’ fiction, and cinematic first-person sequences. The campaign follows the fall of the Federation of Central Usea under occupation by the Republic of Sotoa, with players as the “Wings of Theve” fighting to reclaim their homeland.

Multiplayer: The studio calls this the series’ largest online package yet — customize a mercenary pilot, use the Air Base hub, and jump into cooperative and competitive modes. Exact Early Access feature locks can vary by platform build; check your storefront for what unlocks before Oct. 2.

This is a follow to our earlier Kotaku hands-on package ahead of launch. For campaign and multiplayer ambition detail from that preview, see Ace Combat 8 Kotaku hands-on ahead of the October 2 launch.

Timing note: Storefront clocks differ. Bandai Namco’s line is that Deluxe digital Early Access is live and the full multiplat launch is October 2 — we are not locking a single Eastern Time unlock minute for the Early Access wave.

For US players, the practical takeaway is simple: if you already bought the Deluxe Edition digitally on PS5, Xbox Series, or Steam, Bandai Namco says you can download and play now. Everyone else waits for the Friday, October 2 worldwide launch on the same three platforms. That three-day Early Access window is short by modern standards, so it functions more like a Deluxe thank-you than a long closed beta.

Ace Combat’s fiction stays in the series’ alternate Earth rather than a licensed modern war setting, which is why FCU versus Sotoa and the Wings of Theve callsign matter for campaign marketing. Cross-play multiplayer is the other US-facing pitch after seven years without a mainline entry — friends on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC can share the Air Base hub modes Bandai Namco is promoting as the series’ biggest online package yet.

What we are not saying: Early Access is for Deluxe Edition digital preorders in this announcement. We are not inventing a Standard Edition early unlock, a physical early ship, or platform-exclusive campaign chapters beyond what Bandai Namco published.
