Archie in Hell is planned as a 12-issue story told across three arcs, and Archie in Hell #1 hits comic shops on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026.
Creators Patrick Horvath and Tyler Crook laid out the plan on episode #402 of the AIPT Comics Podcast, as AIPT reports. Here is what the creators shared:
- Length: three interconnected arcs, 12 issues in total.
- Beyond #12: Horvath left the door open to continue past those first three arcs.
- Content: Archie Comics has not asked the team to tone down the violence. Its notes have focused on keeping Archie and friends sounding and reacting like themselves.
- Influences: cosmic horror and religious mythology, including Horvath’s interest in Gnosticism.
Is Archie in Hell an ongoing series?
Not officially. The current plan stops at 12 issues, but Horvath said there is room to keep going if the story calls for it.
Horvath brings the mix of friendly character designs and real dread that marked Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees, while Crook has a long run drawing horror comics. Riverdale has been a busy place lately, with Archie vs. The Terminator #1 also sending a killer into town.
