DC’s Absolute Universe is finally getting its team book. At the publisher’s Absolute Universe panel at New York Comic Con on Friday, DC announced Absolute Justice, a five-issue event miniseries that launches in April 2027. Jason Aaron writes and Juan Ferreyra draws, and the series brings the heroes of the Absolute line together for the first time, The Beat reports from the room.

DC has given a month, not a day. No street date, price, or page count was announced with the reveal.

Who is in it

Polygon reports the lineup as the Absolute versions of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Jo Mullein), and the Flash (Wally West). Some of them have already crossed paths, Polygon notes, like Batman and Wonder Woman, but this is the first time the whole group shares a book.

Absolute Martian Manhunter is the one who brings them together. The Beat and AIPT both report that J’onn J’onzz is the driving force behind assembling the team, which keeps the character in play now that his own Absolute series has ended.

An event without tie-ins

The biggest promise from the panel is about what Absolute Justice won’t do. Per The Beat, the series will not interrupt any of the ongoing Absolute titles, and there are no crossover tie-in issues for readers to track down. According to AIPT, Scott Snyder said giving each book room to develop on its own remains a priority, and Aaron explained that the creators deliberately held off on a team-up until each hero’s world was established.

That matches the pitch DC made to retailers earlier this year. At ComicsPRO in March, DC’s Chris Conroy described the first Absolute Universe event as something that would be “easy to understand” and “not going to disrupt the stories,” Bleeding Cool reports. At the time, he slotted it for the fourth quarter of 2026, so April 2027 lands a few months later than that first target. Bleeding Cool also reports that Aaron is writing the series with input from the other Absolute writers, who contribute dialogue for the characters from their own books.

Darkseid’s world

DC played a trailer for the series at the panel. Bleeding Cool transcribed its message: “From the darkness, a new world of heroes rose. And with them came hope. That was a mistake. The true rulers of this world have one message for you. Abandon all hope.” Polygon ties those “true rulers” to Darkseid, and AIPT’s panel report notes that this universe was shaped by him. The Beat adds that panelists reminded fans that in this universe the Justice League is a force for evil, not a team of heroes.

Aaron and Ferreyra are already a team on Absolute Superman, where Ferreyra has been drawing the “Get Brainiac” arc on Aaron’s scripts. Snyder called Aaron essentially a co-architect of the Absolute Universe, according to Bleeding Cool.

The Absolute line has been one of the strongest sellers in comics this year. ComicHub data reported by Bleeding Cool puts five Absolute Batman issues in 2026’s top 10 so far, as RCG covered when it found that Scott Snyder wrote 7 of 2026’s top 10 comics so far.
