Enshrouded is out of Early Access. Keen Games released version 1.0 of its co-op survival action RPG on PC through Steam on Oct. 15, and the same day marked the game’s console debut on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro. The Frankfurt studio says more than 5.5 million players took part during Early Access, which ran from January 2024 and brought 8 major updates, 14 patches and 42 hotfixes.

Both versions cost $39.99 (€39.99), with a 10% launch discount on Steam and PlayStation for the first 14 days. An Xbox Series X|S version is still in development, and Keen Games plans to release it in spring 2027.

What 1.0 adds

The update completes the world map of Embervale. Its final biome, Cinder’s Cradle, is a set of floating sky islands with ancient ruins and lava flows, built around vertical exploration. Version 1.0 also brings the current storyline to its conclusion. Keen Games describes it as giving the story “an ending – though certainly not an end.”

  • New Hollow Halls, more enemy types and a higher level cap, with characters now reaching level 50 and gear rising from level 50 to 55.
  • Nine new Mage spells, more ranged combat options, and reworked animations and camera.
  • Sparkworks, a logic system for building interactive bases and dungeons, plus Adventure Sharing for passing those creations to other players.
  • Full voice acting for survivors and lore notes in English, German and Chinese.
  • A new “brick renderer” for distant terrain and buildings, reworked lighting and shadows, HDR support and lower memory use.
  • A reworked early game with new pacing, rewards and recipe unlocks.

Co-op supports up to 16 players on PC and up to 8 on PlayStation 5.

On PS5 and PS5 Pro

On a standard PS5, players can choose a 60 fps Performance Mode or a 30 fps Quality Mode. On PS5 Pro, a dedicated mode runs at 60 fps and uses PSSR 2.0 to combine performance and image quality. The console version also supports the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

“Enshrouded has come an incredibly long way since its Early Access launch, and much of that progress is thanks to our amazing community,” said Jan Jöckel, chief executive officer of Keen Games. “Version 1.0 brings everything together: a complete world to explore, the conclusion of our current storyline, major improvements to visuals and performance, and a more polished experience throughout.”

Jöckel said Sparkworks and Adventure Sharing are “the first steps toward letting players create and share adventures of their own.” He added that “there’s still so much more we want to do with Enshrouded.” Keen Games has committed to supporting the game with free and paid content for years to come.
