Gehenna is heading to Los Angeles. Writer Patrick Kindlon and artists Marco Ferrari and Maurizio Rosenzweig are reuniting for Gehenna: Lust for Conquest, a new four-issue miniseries from Image Comics, Bleeding Cool reports. Issue #1 is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2027.
Chasing the contract
The new series is set in the same world as Gehenna: Naked Aggression and the one-shot Gehenna in Tokyo. This time, Gehenna follows the contract on her life to the City of Angels. But as the solicitation puts it, “revenge isn’t an exact science,” and she ends up playing defense against the wildest hitmen on the coast.
“If you’ve read previous Gehenna series, you know the score: beautiful art, breakneck storytelling, and violence that you can feel,” Kindlon said. “Our job is to up the ante!”
Ferrari said this volume puts Rosenzweig front and center. “We took what worked in the previous books and cranked it up: more energy, more drama, and a side of Gehenna you haven’t seen before,” he said. Rosenzweig kept it short: “The Four Horsemen are back. Time to keep the muscles warm.”
How Gehenna got here
The character first appeared in black and white in Image’s 30th anniversary anthology before her story was expanded and colored as Gehenna: Naked Aggression, which followed her attempt to end a contract that kept being passed between criminal groups. Kindlon has cited influences such as Gun Honey and Elektra: Assassin. Ferrari is also known for Scarlett, and Rosenzweig for Dylan Dog.
Covers
Issue #1 has a long cover lineup: Cover A by Rosenzweig, a polybagged Cover B variant by Chloe Brailsford for mature readers, plus covers by Kerbcrawlerghost, Aklia Gabriel, Zawayuki and Ferrari, and a blank sketch cover.
Image has been opening new chapters across its line, including Matthew Rosenberg’s start on King Spawn #60. Readers who want Gehenna’s next job should get their pre-orders in with their local shop before January.
