GTA 6 Is Headed to PC in Q1 2027, GamesBeat Reports

PC | Mac

PC players may not have to wait long for Grand Theft Auto VI after all. GamesBeat reported on October 13 that Rockstar Games plans to release the PC version of GTA 6 in the first quarter of 2027, citing four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans who asked not to be named.

Rockstar has not announced a PC version or a date. A Rockstar representative did not respond to GamesBeat before publication, and the game’s official listing still names only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for its November 19 launch.

A much shorter gap than usual

If the report holds up, it would be a sharp break from how Rockstar has handled PC in the past. Grand Theft Auto V reached consoles in September 2013 and did not arrive on PC until April 2015, about a year and seven months later. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in October 2018 and followed on PC in November 2019.

A first-quarter release would put GTA 6 on PC somewhere between about six weeks and four months after the console launch. GamesBeat notes that the PC version would still have to clear the same quality bar as the console release before Rockstar ships it, and the studio has already delayed GTA 6 twice, from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November.

Why PC matters for GTA

PC is where much of GTA’s community life happens. Role-playing servers and user-made content have kept Grand Theft Auto V in the spotlight for years, and Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind the FiveM role-playing platform, in 2023. An early PC release would let that scene move to the new game far sooner than it did last time.

Until Rockstar or Take-Two says otherwise, the Q1 2027 window remains a report rather than an announcement. For now, the only confirmed way to play on day one is a PS5 or an Xbox Series console. RCG has also covered why Xbox says GTA 6 won’t stream exclusively or to PC.
