Grand Theft Auto 6 has pre-sold an estimated 7.71 million copies, according to data firm Sensor Tower, as reported by Kotaku. That estimate works out to roughly $751 million in revenue. Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have not confirmed any pre-order figures.
Sensor Tower’s updated GTA 6 sales tracker estimates about 74 percent of those pre-orders are on PlayStation 5 and 26 percent on Xbox Series X/S. In raw numbers, the firm puts PS5 at about 5.74 million copies and Xbox at about 1.97 million.
According to Kotaku, the tracker shows pre-orders picking up after the extended gameplay reveal on Netflix. Kotaku also points to Sony’s exclusive marketing deal for GTA 6 and the lower price of a base PS5 compared with a base Xbox Series X as likely factors in the PlayStation lead.
For context, Kotaku notes that Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly gathered around 8 million total pre-orders before its 2020 launch. The GTA 6 estimate also sits just behind Resident Evil Requiem’s estimated 8.5 million sales, which currently rank Capcom’s horror sequel as the second best-selling game of 2026 in the U.S.
Analysts expect far bigger numbers once the game is out. Financial services firm Piper Sandler is predicting 45 million sales for GTA 6 at launch. By comparison, GTA 5 made more than $800 million in its first 24 hours.
GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19. As we covered when Rockstar confirmed the GTA 6 pre-load, downloads start November 10 and the game needs up to 212GB of storage.
