Super Earth is handing out longer barrels. Arrowhead’s Scope of Authority Premium Warbond arrives in Helldivers 2 on October 20, according to the PlayStation Blog, and it is built around long-range and stealthy play.
The headliner is the R-40 Sightliner, a bolt-action sniper rifle in the primary slot that aims to balance stability and stopping power. It pairs with the P-44 Mist, a compact one-handed machine pistol for when enemies get too close to your hide.
Big rifles, lasers and caltrops
For heavier targets, the AMW-20 Apex is a backpack-fed anti-materiel rifle with assisted reload, pitched as the answer to the game’s larger armored foes. The LAS-44 Nova joins the laser lineup with infinite ammo and a high-precision thermal shot after a short charge, and the G-11 Caltrops grenade scatters proximity submunitions that slow and stun enemies so they are easier to line up.
The armor leans into the theme. The SS-33 Mimetic Marshal light armor borrows from old-school ghillie suits with light-diffusing netting and adaptive fibers, while the SS-15 Focal Point medium armor adds adaptive camouflage and an asymmetrical optics visor. The Boundary Banner cape and player card round out the cosmetics.
As with every Premium Warbond, you need the base game, Super Credits and enough progression to unlock the items. Sony’s post sets the scene with a Helldiver hidden in an autumn treeline, picking off an Automaton battalion as it marches on an outpost.
Warbonds are how Helldivers 2 adds new gear between major updates, and once you buy one it stays in your collection, so there is no rush to grind it out before a deadline.
Sniper builds have always been a niche in Helldivers 2, where chaos usually wins. Scope of Authority looks like Arrowhead’s attempt to make the patient approach a real squad role. For more on where shooters are heading this fall, see RCG’s look at Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ details.
