Hitman Absolution Switch 2 Edition Lands Oct. 22

Nintendo

Agent 47 is sharpening up for Nintendo’s new hardware. Feral Interactive says Hitman: Absolution – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrives on October 22, with a limited free upgrade for anyone who already owns the Switch version, according to Feral’s announcement and Gematsu.

Pricing and upgrade window

If you own Absolution on Nintendo Switch, the Upgrade Pack is free on the eShop from launch day through November 4. After that it costs $9.99 / £4.99 / €4.99. Players starting fresh on Switch 2 can buy the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition directly for $29.99 / £19.99 / €24.99, a 25 percent launch discount that ends November 5, when the price rises to $39.99 / £24.99 / €29.99.

Feral is using the same playbook it has applied to other classic ports: reward people who already bought in, then normalize the price once the honeymoon window closes.

What Switch 2 adds

The studio lists higher output resolution in handheld and docked play, handheld frame-rate improvements up to 60 fps, Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, better animations and effects in demanding scenes, and upgrades to level of detail, shadows and texture filtering. The cross-platform Contracts mode, where players set and share assassination challenges, is available on day one.

Absolution originally launched in 2012 as a more linear, cinematic entry in IO Interactive’s stealth series. Bringing it to Switch 2 keeps the older Hitman games in circulation while fans wait on newer Bond and assassin dates, including the Switch 2 version of 007 First Light on March 18, 2027.

Contracts mode has always been one of Absolution’s longer tails, letting players invent assassination scenarios and share them. Having that live on Switch 2 at launch matters for a port that could otherwise feel like a single-player museum piece.

Feral says Switch owners who pick up Absolution now will be ready for the free upgrade next week. Anyone waiting for a sharper handheld Hitman finally has a date on the calendar.
