Hollow Home, a War Survival RPG, Lands Jan. 27, 2027

PC | Mac

Hollow Home now has a release date. Publisher Crunchy Leaf Games and Kyiv-based developer Twigames will launch the narrative survival RPG on January 27, 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam, as announced alongside a new release date trailer reported by Gematsu.

Inspired by Disco Elysium and This War of Mine, Hollow Home puts players in the role of Maksym, a 14-year-old boy alone in a city under siege. The story draws on real events from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the siege of Mariupol. Maksym’s journey begins 24 hours before the invasion, on the last normal day he will remember, and the city changes around him from there.

No weapons, no battles

There is no combat in Hollow Home. Instead, its challenges are moral choices and the relationships Maksym builds with the people he meets. Branching dialogue and questlines lead to multiple endings, and three explorable districts change with each passing day of the siege.

“We started working on Hollow Home in the spring of 2022, a few weeks after the full-scale invasion began,” Twigames founder Valerii Minenko said. “Making a game about the war while you are still living through it is hard, and there were weeks when it was hard to think about anything else. We kept going because we want people around the world to see what this war means for ordinary families who stay in their city and try to get through one more day.”

The team is developing the game in Kyiv while living through the same war and researching the stories of people who survived the siege. Hollow Home was funded on Kickstarter in August 2026, where 558 backers took the campaign to 140 percent of its goal.

A heavy story for early 2027

Hollow Home joins a growing list of thoughtful indie games set for 2027, including Thunder Lotus’s At Fate’s End, which was recently delayed to 2027. Hollow Home can be wishlisted on Steam now ahead of its January launch.
