Marvel Comics and Kadokawa are partnering on new original Marvel manga for Japan, according to ICv2 (Brigid Alverson, October 1, 2026). The books will launch in 2026 on Kadokawa’s digital platform KadoComi, then collect into print volumes. ICv2 notes no English-language publication announcement yet for the new line.

The program is planned for five titles. First up: a Spider-Man manga by tokitokoro, and a Spider-Gwen manga by Ryusei Yamada. Marvel also released preliminary character designs — but no other story information — for manga versions of Daredevil and Punisher.

tokitokoro’s Spider-Man centers on a new character, Shibuya high-schooler Haruto Hachidori, who suddenly develops spider-powers and enjoys swinging through the city’s streets until a dark presence awakens beneath them. Yamada’s Spider-Gwen follows Gwen Stacy as a high-school drummer in the band The Mary Janes who gains powers from a spider bite and becomes her city’s protector.

Both creators already have Marvel credits familiar to U.S. readers: ICv2 notes tokitokoro drew Marvel’s Jeff the Land Shark (and the VIZ manga Lynx), while Yamada penciled several Marvel Rivals comics. Former Marvel EIC C.B. Cebulski is spearheading the initiative in his new Asia Originals role and has moved to Japan to take the reins.

Marvel’s prior Japan partnership with Shueisha — publisher of Shonen Jump — produced a number of titles that reached English readers through VIZ Media, including Marvel Meow and Deadpool: Samurai!. That contract ended September 30, 2026, and Kadokawa is taking over as Marvel’s new Japanese partner. For another recent Spider-Man comics beat on RCG, see Amazing Spider-Man #1000 Hawley preview.
