Metro Redux Hits PS5 and Xbox Series Oct. 29

PlayStation

Publisher Deep Silver and developer 4A Games will release PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Metro Redux — packing Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux — on Wednesday, October 29, 2026, according to Gematsu (October 1, 2026). A free PC “Next-Gen Update” lands earlier on October 22, and owners of the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions also receive a free upgrade.

Deep Silver stresses this is not a full remaster or remake — the Redux aesthetic stays — but adds meaningful modern-hardware upgrades: 4K textures across platforms, improved animation/audio/environment detail, community bug fixes, and quality-of-life work. Console callouts include native PS5 / PS5 Pro / Xbox Series support, PSSR on PS5 Pro, TSR upscaling on Xbox Series X, Spatial Audio on Xbox, DualSense Adaptive Triggers and Xbox Impulse Triggers, true 4K at 60 fps and upscaled 4K at 120 fps with capable displays, plus Xbox Handheld and Xbox Play Anywhere support. PC gains DLSS and spatial audio among other improvements.

Marketing note in the publisher overview: the update is also framed as a runway toward METRO 2039 on February 4 — treat that as a named sequel date from this announcement, not a full platform matrix unless Deep Silver publishes one separately.

For US players, October 29 sits on a busy late-October multiplat calendar already tracked on RCG — including Monster Hunter Outlanders Global Launch Oct. 29. Different genres; same street day for shoppers comparing next-gen ports and live-service launches.

Deep Silver’s overview also nods to Xbox Handheld continuity and Power Optimized / Power Saver modes on modern consoles, underscoring that the Redux pair is being treated as a living catalog entry rather than a one-and-done port. Full patch notes are promised at launch, so today’s story is the dated hardware matrix and free-upgrade path — not every bullet in the forthcoming notes.

What we are not saying: we are not inventing a Switch Redux next-gen SKU, claiming a ground-up remake, or expanding Metro 2039’s platform list beyond the Feb. 4 teaser in this note. Report PS5/Xbox Series Oct. 29; free PC update Oct. 22; free last-gen upgrades.
