Oxalis Games is opening the gate on Moonfrost today. The cozy life-sim RPG enters Steam Early Access on October 12 at 6 PM UK time — noon Central — for $14.99, according to a Games Press release and the game’s Steam page.
In Moonfrost, you play a Frost Hunter in a world wrecked by meteor storms after a second moon appeared. The job is to rebuild a shattered village, farm, craft, fish, cook and befriend neighbors while digging into the mystery of Moonfrost itself. The press kit pitches it as a narrative-driven life-sim where restoring homes and businesses sits at the center of the loop.
What Early Access includes
Steam’s Early Access FAQ says the launch build already has the core systems in place. Players can work through the first half of the main story, clear the first 20 rooms of a temple, restore several village businesses, meet 11 villagers with friendships capped at level 3 for now, and build and decorate a home. Oxalis plans to finish the main storyline and open full friendship and romance content in under six months, though Early Access could run longer if community feedback adds more work.
The studio is also being upfront about price. Moonfrost is cheaper during Early Access, and Oxalis says the price will likely rise as more content lands. Publishers listed on Steam are Oxalis Games and iterco. Windows is the only platform on the store page right now.
Cozy rebuild games have been having a moment, and Moonfrost is betting on community care plus a darker second-moon mystery. For another indie studio digging back into a beloved world, RCG recently covered Amanita Design’s Machinarium 2 announcement.
If you have been waiting on the Frost Hunter fantasy, today’s the day the first proper build goes live on Steam.
