Nintendo has locked a launch date for its Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: November 5, 2026. The date landed during the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on September 8, alongside the first substantial gameplay look since the June teaser.
Per Nintendo’s Direct materials as reported by Gematsu and Video Games Chronicle, the remake overhauls visuals down to material textures, refreshes audio with symphonic orchestral music, and speeds load times. Cutscenes are fully voiced with expanded character dialogue. Movement gains dedicated jump and run commands, and the right stick drives freer camera control. Day and night now continue even inside towns, and remodeled areas such as Hyrule Castle Town can be explored with a movable camera rather than a fixed view.
A new Threads of Time menu tracks story progress and next objectives while a tapestry fills in as milestones clear. Players can hum learned melodies toward the Switch 2 microphone—or play new physical ocarinas arriving later this year—and Link will perform them in-game. Zelda Notes in the Nintendo Switch App will add daily records, hint-image Gossip Quests, a virtual ocarina, and a quiz with more than 2,000 questions. Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo arrive in 2027 and can unlock retro-style masks; Mineru’s Construct for Tears of the Kingdom still ships September 17.
US pricing cited with the announcement is $59.99 digital and $69.99 physical, with first-print textured foil packaging while supplies last. A week earlier, on October 29, Nintendo will sell the Switch 2 Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition system and matching accessories.
Nintendo Life independently confirmed the November 5 Switch 2 date and the new jump and roll/dash movement after the Direct ended, matching Gematsu’s feature list.
