Skybound is putting its next big comics launch straight into readers’ hands. Comic shops are getting an official Skybound Visions Ashcan from Image Comics, a preview booklet packed with early interiors and character designs from the line’s first three books, Bleeding Cool reports.
Retailers who order this week’s Transformers #37 will receive matching copies of the ashcan, plus an extra 10%, arriving for November 11. Shops will also get a double-sided promotional poster featuring the first two titles with their November 18 shipments.
Three launch books, one sampler
Skybound Visions pairs well-known characters with creators telling standalone takes on them. The ashcan previews all three launch titles:
- Transformers: Bumblebee – Lost Planet by Tate Brombal and Matt Emmons, in stores January 27, 2027
- G.I. Joe: The Island of Dr. Mindbender by Karl Kerschl and Doug Mahnke, in stores February 3, 2027
- Turok: Son of Stone by Stephen Graham Jones and Leandro Fernández, in stores March 10, 2027
Each book is a complete story. Bumblebee gets stranded on an uncharted planet after a Decepticon attack and has to tackle the biggest mission of his young life. Flint returns to active duty to lead fresh recruits to Dr. Mindbender’s island, where the last team never came back. And Turok falls through history into a valley where the Ice Age sits on top of the age of dinosaurs.
“Skybound Visions pairs beloved comic book characters with the most interesting comic book creators working today, to present their personal takes on these fan-favourites,” Skybound SVP Sean Mackiewicz said. Turok’s book also confirms Skybound’s plans for the Gold Key characters it has picked up.
RCG covered the line’s reveal when Skybound Visions launched with Bumblebee, G.I. Joe and Turok. The ashcan is the retail push, giving shops something physical to hand customers months before the first issue lands.
