Ben Hardy Cast as Daniel West in Prime Video’s Stillwater Series, Adapted From Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez’s Skybound Horror Comic

Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez’s Skybound/Image horror comic Stillwater is heading to Prime Video with a lead: Ben Hardy (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Apocalypse) will play Daniel West, according to Deadline’s Rosy Cordero and Matt Grobar (September 28) and Comics Beat’s Christopher Chiu-Tabet (September 29).

Deadline frames the one-hour drama as a mind-bending horror thriller. Ex-con Daniel West receives a mysterious letter promising answers about his past and a substantial inheritance in the small town of Stillwater — then discovers a community where nothing ages, no one dies, and nobody gets out.

Skybound comic to eight-episode Prime series

Comics Beat notes Stillwater ran at Skybound/Image for 18 issues plus a special from 2020 to 2023. The Prime Video series carries an eight-episode order that Deadline says came ahead of San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026.

Greg Berlanti (You, The Flash) and Carly Wray (Watchmen, Westworld) write and executive produce; Deadline says the pair co-wrote the pilot. Chip Zdarsky is an executive producer alongside Robert Kirkman and others at Skybound Entertainment, Comics Beat reports. The show is a co-production of Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, Skybound Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios.

Berlanti and Wray told outlets they have been fans of Hardy “for a long time,” praising a toughness with something “incredibly open and soulful underneath” that fitted Daniel — and that once they saw him in the role, “it was impossible to imagine anyone else.”

Hardy’s recent slate — and another Zdarsky Prime project

Beyond Bohemian Rhapsody (Roger Taylor) and X-Men: Apocalypse (Archangel), Deadline and Comics Beat list recent Hardy credits including New Line’s The Conjuring: Last Rites, Unicorns (British Independent Film Award nomination), The Voyeurs, and Michael Bay’s 6 Underground.

Comics Beat adds a related Prime note: Zdarsky’s Sex Criminals (with Matt Fraction) is separately in the works at the streamer, also planned as eight episodes.
