Tekken 8’s boxing kangaroo is almost here. Bandai Namco showed off the first gameplay for Roger Jr. at Evo France in Nice on Sunday, right before the Tekken 8 Top 8, and confirmed when he joins the roster. Early access starts November 12, and the full release follows on November 17, according to EventHubs.
Roger Jr. is the third fighter in Tekken 8’s Season 3 lineup, following Kunimitsu and Bob. The trailer leans into everything fans love about him. He mixes boxing with tail attacks and kicks, hauls King around in a Giant Swing, and even does a little doggy paddle in mid-air. One clip shows him putting Leroy’s dog, Sugar, in a headlock. The official Tekken account also pointed out that he is wearing matching outfits with his mom.
This is a real comeback. Roger Jr. has not been part of a mainline Tekken game since Tekken 6, though he also showed up in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. This is his first appearance in Tekken 8.
Yujiro Hanma is next
The trailer also gave fans their first glimpse of Yujiro Hanma from the Baki manga series, who closes out Season 3 in early 2027. Bandai Namco said his full trailer will premiere on January 17, 2027, at the Tekken World Tour 2026 Global Finals in Singapore, according to a post from the official Tekken account.
Tekken 8 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Evo France ran from October 9 to 11, and fighting game publishers used the weekend to stack up announcements. Tekken is showing up outside its own games this weekend, too. On Saturday, RCG reported that Tekken’s Reina is joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
With Roger Jr. just over a month away, players will not have long to find out whether the kangaroo can hang with the rest of the cast. His arrival also sets up a busy start to 2027, with Yujiro’s full trailer locked in for the Tekken World Tour Global Finals.
