The Finals Season 12 Lets Scotty Say Your Name Live

PC | Mac

Scotty is about to know your name. Embark Studios’ free-to-play shooter The Finals is adding Dynamic Commentary in Season 12, a system that lets the game’s announcer say player names out loud during matches for the first time.

How Dynamic Commentary works

Community account The Finals Latest summed it up on Sunday afternoon: “Scotty can now say YOUR name live!” Season 12 introduces Dynamic Commentary so player names become part of the match callouts instead of generic lines. Insider Gaming reports the feature is launching in beta and that players who do not want their name read out can opt into an Anonymous mode.

That privacy toggle matters. Hearing your own handle in a highlight kill is fun until someone is streaming, clipping, or griefing with it. Embark giving people a way out before the feature hits everyone is the right call for a beta.

Season 12 PRIME TIME

Dynamic Commentary is part of Season 12, branded PRIME TIME, which goes live on October 20 according to Embark’s patch notes. The season continues the show’s over-the-top broadcast fantasy, and putting real names into Scotty’s script is a natural next step for a game that already treats every match like a TV spectacle.

Embark has been stacking seasonal hooks into The Finals while also shipping its other multiplayer title. Fans of both games have been bouncing between The Finals seasons and Arc Raiders updates like Frozen Trail, so a personality-driven commentary system is another reason to jump back in for the new season.

What to expect on day one

Because the system is in beta, name callouts may not cover every situation or every language on day one. Insider Gaming’s Anonymous-mode note suggests Embark expects some players to leave it off while the team tunes how often Scotty jumps in.

Season 12 starts October 20. If you want Scotty calling your name, leave Anonymous mode off. If you do not, flip it on and enjoy the rest of PRIME TIME in peace.
