Nintendo has given the Ocarina of Time remake its longest showcase since the reveal. A new five-minute overview trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2 walks through the rebuilt Hyrule, new modes and quality-of-life features, as reported by Gematsu and Nintendo Life.
What’s new
One of the bigger additions is the Hall of Fallen Foes, a museum-style space where you can view statues of the enemies you have defeated. It ties into boss rematches with a time trial mode, so players can return to fights and try to beat their best times, a nod to speedrunners and to the Boss Challenge from the 3DS version.
The trailer also shows off a fun twist on the game’s signature instrument. You can hum a song into the microphone, or even play a real ocarina, and Link will mimic the tune in-game. There is a quick look at Zelda Notes, too, along with amiibo support: Nintendo Life notes that existing Zelda amiibo can be scanned for items such as hearts, bombs and rupees, and new amiibo are on the way.
Beyond the new features, the trailer leans on what made the original special. Link still travels with his fairy partner Navi, the iconic music returns in full, and the remake adds new voice work. Nintendo describes the project as a “completely reborn version” of the 1998 classic, released as part of the series’ 40th anniversary.
Previews are in
The trailer arrived alongside the first wave of hands-on previews, and the early impressions have been warm. Several outlets praised the streamlined controls and smoother pacing, while Nintendo Life noted that at least one familiar irritation from the original is still around.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on Switch 2 on November 5. RCG covered the release date when it was announced in Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Sets November 5 Switch 2 Launch. With the full overview now out, there are just three weeks left before players can return to Hyrule.
