ComicsDC Extends Absolute Catwoman to 12 Issues as Che Grayson and Bengal Continue Through 2027

Spoiler warning: this story discusses the final page of Absolute Batman #25. DC has extended Absolute Catwoman from six issues to 12, with writer Che Grayson and artist Bengal continuing Selina Kyle’s story through issues #7 to #12 in 2027, AIPT reports.

The series was launched by Scott Snyder and Grayson with art by Bengal as part of DC’s Absolute Universe. Comics Beat notes that, according to DC’s press release, Grayson appears to be taking over as solo writer for the six additional issues. Absolute Catwoman is the third Absolute title to grow from six issues to 12, following Absolute Martian Manhunter and Absolute Green Arrow.

The news lands the same day Absolute Batman #25 went on sale, Oct. 28. As CBR and ComicBook.com report, the issue’s final page reveals that Selina is pregnant. DC has not said more about what that means for the character, and the issue leaves the bigger questions open.

Snyder said the reveal was always part of the plan. “The events of Absolute Batman #25 have been in the larger plans from the series pitch onward, so this moment was also part of the planning for Absolute Catwoman,” he said in the press release, as quoted by Comics Beat. “But don’t think that means you know what’s coming…without giving anything away, what Che and Bengal have planned for Selina and her cast in ’27 is genuinely awesome and only takes the character to greater heights.”

“I have the easiest job in comics getting to watch Che and Bengal spin magic with this amazing character,” Snyder added.

Grayson said continuing the book is an honor. “Working with Scott, Bengal, and the rest of the team has truly been a dream come true, and to know that we get to continue Selina’s story is such an honor,” Grayson said. “Where we take Absolute Catwoman next will deepen her ties to Gotham and beyond.”

Bengal called the series a dream job. “When I was invited on board for Absolute Catwoman, I immediately felt it was exactly where I belonged,” Bengal said. “So naturally, I was ecstatic when I heard we’d get to tell you more about Selina next year. I couldn’t be happier!”

Absolute Catwoman #4 arrives in comic shops and participating digital retailers on Nov. 4. In it, Selina and the Calicos race to find the Yarn, described as the world’s most powerful supercomputer, before Cassandra Cain and the League of Shadows get to it. The issue was previously pushed to November amid DC delays.
