Shift Up has confirmed that the PC launcher for Goddess of Victory: NIKKE may have been compromised. In a November 4 notice from the official NIKKE account, the studio said it has “identified an issue indicating that the PC launcher’s script files may have been tampered with by a third party,” as GamesRadar+ reports.
The studio has not yet said how many players were affected. “We are currently investigating the scope of the impact caused by this issue, and we will provide further details regarding follow-up measures in a separate notice,” the team wrote, along with an apology to players.
What Shift Up and Level Infinite have said
Shift Up founder Kim Hyung Tae added a statement of his own. “We are currently experiencing issues related to the PC launcher,” he said. “In collaboration with Level Infinite, we are dedicating all our resources to identifying a fundamental solution, and we are also preparing follow-up measures. We sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience this has caused you, Commanders.”
Level Infinite publishes the PC launcher. Both companies say more updates are coming as the investigation continues. The mobile versions of NIKKE are not part of the launcher notice.
What players are being told to do
According to Siliconera, community reports on Reddit and a write-up on GitHub claim the tampered launcher could deliver a “stealer” agent capable of targeting browsers, Discord, and Steam, which could put saved passwords, payment details, and crypto wallets at risk. Those details come from players and researchers, not from Shift Up, which has only confirmed possible tampering so far.
The GitHub report suggests PC players check the debug.log file in the launcher’s Launcher/intl_service folder for signs that an agent named k2f_chan was registered and started. Players who have not opened the launcher recently are advised to delete the tbs_cache folder and leave the launcher alone until an all clear is given. Anyone who did run the PC launcher during the affected window should change their passwords and run a full antivirus scan, and watch the official NIKKE channels for Shift Up’s follow-up notice.
Shift Up is best known in the West for Stellar Blade. As we covered in September, Stellar Blade picked up a Bayonetta collaboration. Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is available on PC and mobile devices.
