Marvel Maps Compact Editions Through Mid-2027

Comics

ICv2 on September 11, 2026 laid out Marvel’s expanding Compact Editions slate for spring and summer 2027, framing the line as a $9.99, roughly 300-page, 5.5″×8.5″ answer to the compact boom — and tying the push to early sales heat on Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Per ICv2’s Brigid Alverson, Marvel’s Compact Editions sit apart from the publisher’s Premier Collections. Unlike most rival compact lines, Marvel is not yet using a distinct cover design; solicits carry a special logo. The first volume, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (June street), cracked Circana BookScan’s Adult Top 20 in August and also placed in ComicHub/Comic Shop Assistant Top 20 charts across June–August. That opener collects self-contained stories rather than one continuous arc; ICv2 notes upcoming volumes are mostly single arcs, including four Ultimate Universe titles.

ICv2’s dated 2027 wave includes: Star Wars: Skywalker Strikes (Jason Aaron; Star Wars 2015 #1–12) on January 26; Star Wars Darth Vader – Shadows & Secrets (Kieron Gillen / Salvador Larroca; Darth Vader 2015 #1–12) on February 9; same-day March 16 streets for Spider-Gwen: The Radioactive Spider-Woman and Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man; April 13 for Ultimates: Fix the World Year One and Ultimate Spider-Man: Fix the World Year One; then Ultimate X-Men: Fix the World Year One on June 8 and Ultimate Black Panther: Fix the World Year One on June 23. MSRP stays in the compact $9.99 band.

Marvel is also continuing Premier Collections into spring 2027, ICv2 adds — a parallel premium track, not a replacement for Compact. For the adjacent Dark Horse compact push already on our site, see Dark Horse Compact Editions Launch May 2027.

What we are not saying: no claim that Marvel invented the compact format, no invented unit counts beyond ICv2’s chart placements for Brand New Day, and no street-day locks beyond the ICv2 dated list above. Release dating here follows the Eastern calendar days ICv2 published.
