Dark Horse Comics announced a new line of travel-sized Compact Editions priced at $9.99, hitting comic shops and bookshops beginning May 2027. Editor-in-Chief Dave Marshall positioned the format as value-priced entry points into beloved creator-owned and licensed lines. The books follow the now-familiar compact template — roughly 5.5 × 8.5 inches / ~8″ × 5″ trim with 200-plus pages — joining the wider industry compact boom.
First-wave titles and street dates from the Dark Horse newsfeed (and confirmed the same morning by ICv2): The Witcher Compact Edition: The Bear and the Butterfly and The Ballad of Two Wolves on May 25, 2027 (200 pages); Black Hammer Compact Edition: Secret Origins and The Event on June 1, 2027 (344 pages, timed near the series’ 10th anniversary); Cyberpunk 2077 Compact Edition: Trauma Team and Psycho Squad on June 29, 2027 (200 pages); and Canto Compact Edition: The Shrouded Man on July 6, 2027 (328 pages, collecting the first two volumes plus the Canto & the Clockwork Faeries one-shot). Each lead title packages the first two story arcs; The Goon Compact Edition is flagged as coming soon with details later.
This is a format and access story, not a new ongoing series launch. Pre-order paths named by Dark Horse include Amazon, Barnes & Noble, local bookstores, Find Your Comic Store, and Bookshop.org.
