BlizzCon 2026 Hard Dates: Diablo V Spring 2029, StarCraft Shooter Spring 2030, WoW Forever Nov. 4

Blizzard spent BlizzCon 2026 doing something it has historically avoided: putting hard calendars on the big swings. Across Opening Ceremony and follow-up posts on Blizzard.com, the studio locked in three dated pillars — Diablo V for Spring 2029, a new StarCraft narrative open-world shooter for Spring 2030, and World of Warcraft: Forever, a permanent third WoW branch, launching November 4, 2026 with beta on September 17. (Dates as stated on Blizzard News as of September 14, 2026; Blizzard.com preferred over secondary roundups.)

Diablo V — Spring 2029

Blizzard’s Opening Ceremony recap puts Diablo V on the board for Spring 2029. The pitch is not a soft sequel beat: Sanctuary has fallen and Diablo has won, framing a darker chapter that asks what players become when the world is already gone. That window sits years past Diablo IV’s current seasonal runway — including Season of Hell’s Legacy and the Amazon class pack called out elsewhere in the same ceremony — and is the clearest long-range Diablo date Blizzard has attached to a numbered sequel in years.

Separately, Blizzard confirmed on the same Opening Ceremony post that a Diablo animated series is in development with Netflix, with more details to come. No release window was attached on the primary post.

StarCraft returns as a narrative open-world shooter — Spring 2030

Also from Opening Ceremony: STARCRAFT, described as an original open-world shooter, returns players to the Koprulu Sector in Spring 2030. Blizzard’s own write-up keeps the on-stage reveal lean; the sharper design language came afterward in coverage of director Dan Hay (via Wccftech’s report of his Inven Global interview, September 14, 2026).

Hay framed the project as a narrative-driven “box product” — create a character, follow a story with a beginning, middle, and definitive ending, explore side content and progression in an open world — and explicitly rejected a live-service / seasonal model for what the team is building now. That stance matters as much as the genre pivot: this is StarCraft as a finite shooter campaign with roam-and-retry pacing, not another forever live title wearing the IP.

World of Warcraft: Forever — beta Sept. 17, launch Nov. 4, 2026

The near-term date that actually moves calendars this fall is World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard positions Forever as a new permanent third experience alongside Modern and Classic — Vanilla-era continents reopened with new paths, including three new zones, over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, two new raids, and the new Skyborne race. Per Blizzard’s Forever article and Opening Ceremony roundup: beta begins September 17, 2026; global launch is November 4, 2026 (Blizzard lists a 3:00 p.m. Pacific launch window on the Forever page).

That makes Forever the only one of the three dated pillars you can actually queue for this year — and the clearest signal that Blizzard intends three supported WoW tracks, not a temporary “Classic Plus” event.

Why the dates matter

Taken together, the Spring 2029 / Spring 2030 / Nov. 4 2026 trio is Blizzard publishing a multi-year roadmap in public: long-lead single-player-scale bets (Diablo V, StarCraft) plus an immediate permanent WoW branch. Secondary roundups (including TechTimes’ September 14, 2026 mega) track the same windows; where details diverge, prefer Blizzard.com. Netflix Diablo is noted above only because Blizzard’s Opening Ceremony post states it; no other non-game productions from that post carried hard dates.
