One Piece is officially coming to Fortnite. Epic Games posted a short teaser on Saturday that shows the Going Merry, the Straw Hat Pirates’ first ship, drifting out of the fog alongside the Fortnite and One Piece logos, as reported by Polygon and Insider Gaming.
The crossover is tied to Fortnite’s next mini-season, Treasure Hunters, which Epic is billing as “the greatest adventure of all time.” An earlier teaser showed a treasure map and a Nov. 1 date, and the mini-season is set to begin on Sunday, Nov. 1 after downtime ends Chapter 7 Season 4. It will be the mini-season that closes out Chapter 7.
Fans have expected this for weeks. One Piece was linked to Chapter 7’s finale back in September, and the official Fortnite account had been playing along with the speculation before confirming it with a simple string of straw hat emoji. The teaser also hinted at the return of Hatsune Miku in Fortnite and a Kasane Teto appearance, though Epic has not said how either will fit into Treasure Hunters.
What Epic has not shown yet is just as important. There is no word on which characters will be playable, whether Luffy and the crew arrive as Item Shop skins, a Battle Pass or both, or how much any of it will cost. It is also unclear whether the designs will follow Eiichiro Oda’s manga and the anime or Netflix’s live-action series, though the Going Merry in the teaser looks like the anime version.
One Piece is a natural fit for Fortnite’s growing anime lineup. The manga has been running for nearly 30 years, the anime is closing in on 1,200 episodes, and Bandai Namco has kept a steady stream of One Piece games coming, most recently the cooking and restaurant sim One Piece: Grand Gourmet.
Fortnite has had a busy month off the island, too, returning to iPhone in Australia after a court win. Expect Epic to reveal the full Treasure Hunters lineup, including the One Piece items, closer to the Nov. 1 launch.
