Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s long-requested New Game+ mode is live now as a free update on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. In an Xbox Wire post, Ubisoft calls the patch The Most Requested Update, and it also expands endgame progression for players who never start a second run.
New Game+ unlocks after you finish the Holy Day quest. Each fresh loop scales the challenge so a maxed-out Eivor still has something to push against. Alongside the replay mode, the patch raises the gear level cap from 13 to 27, adds a new Mithril resource for upgrading divine gear, and rolls out Extended Progression Mode, where gear upgrades, runes, and masteries feed into overall power.
Ravensthorpe gets a stash that holds any gear or rune from your inventory. The Rune Forge update lets players upgrade runes for silver from the menu, including a new Superior tier, and Ubisoft says more than 300 engravable runes are now in the game. In New Game+, Wealth Chests that used to drop Carbon, Nickel, or Tungsten hand out Platinum instead. Mithril also drops when you pick up gear or a Book of Knowledge you already own in New Game+, and it can be bought in Niflheim and the Mastery and River Raid shops.
Lead Game Designer David Larouche said New Game+ was the feature fans asked for most, and that the team wanted more than a straight do-over. Extended progression, higher divine-gear upgrades, the Superior rune tier, and the new engravable perks are available even if you stay on your original save. “I can’t wait to see how players use all of these different perks together and create all sorts of different synergies,” he said.
As we covered when Ubisoft laid out its fall Assassin’s Creed update, Valhalla’s New Game+ was already dated for Nov. 5. Today’s Xbox Wire post confirms the patch is live on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. This is separate from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s recent New Game Plus update.
